In 2017 and 2018, Eric van Ginkel is listed in the Global Arbitration Review’s Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration, which said: “The ‘excellent’ Eric van Ginkel is an accomplished arbitrator who is particularly well regarded for his considerable experience sitting as arbitrator in intellectual property disputes.”

Mr. van Ginkel is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA), an invitation-only fellowship of elite and experienced commercial arbitrators.

From a co-arbitrator: "I recently served on a three-person panel with Eric as chair on a case involving a North American party and an Asian party. Eric was conscientious as chair, very even-handed to the parties, and fostered an atmosphere of collegiality among the panel, which led to a fair award in a fairly complicated case."

From counsel in an arbitration: "Mr. van Ginkel acted as lead arbitrator in an international patent-related arbitration between [foreign] companies. Mr. van Ginkel was eminently prepared, asked pertinent and insightful questions, and ran an efficient proceeding. The panel’s pre-hearing rulings were fair yet flexible, providing guidance where necessary but allowing the parties leeway to resolve a number disputes among themselves. The hearing itself was organized and productive. The matter involved both fact and expert witnesses, some of whom were presented by video. There were technical challenges throughout, but the evidence went in without a hitch. The panel’s ruling was well thought-out and thorough."

Eric van Ginkel is an experienced arbitrator, having sat both as Chair and Member of the Tribunal, and (more frequently) as Sole Arbitrator in more than 70 cases, both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations.
